Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading charity dedicated to cancer research.  We have discovered new ways of beating cancer that together have saved hundreds of thousands of lives across the world.  One in three of us will get cancer at some point in our lives.  Our groundbreaking work, funded almost entirely by the general public, will ensure that millions more people survive.

Cancer Research UK is striving to be innovative in its fundraising to ensure that it can continue to raise the funds needed to support our scientists’ ambitions and realise our vision - that “together we will beat cancer”.  The Radical Innovation team at Cancer Research UK was founded 2 years ago to find and develop the next forms of fundraising.

The team has a key objective: to create new fundraising models each with the potential to contribute over £10 million per annum to Cancer Research UK’s research programme.

Our first launch under a white label banner is www.givewithflowers.org - a flower site where 20% of the sale of flowers is directly donated to Cancer Research UK.

A number of other innovation projects are currently in the pipeline.  One of these - www.givetakedonate.org - is currently undergoing a trial in Oxfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.  Givetakedonate is a scheme where givers donate their skills and allow others to take up that skill in return for a donation.

The Open Ventures Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for Cancer Research UK to benefit from some truly innovative fundraising ventures and the Radical Innovation team are very excited by the prospect of interacting with and working alongside the Challenge community.  We fully believe that this challenge will deliver the “next big thing” in fundraising.
